מאיפה הכל התחיל

שנות ה-80 לא היו רק מדונה ומייקל ג'קסון. מתחת לפני השטח — במרתפים, במועדוני Underground ובסטודיואים קטנים — צמח עולם מוזיקלי שלם שדחה את הPop המלוטש וחיפש משהו אמיתי יותר.

EBM — Electronic Body Music

המונח הוטבע על ידי Front 242 ב-1984. Synthesizers + מכונות תופים + Rhythm שדוחף את הגוף לזוז — אבל לא כמו Disco. EBM היה אגרסיבי, מכני, פוליטי. הוא חיבר את ה-Punk Energy עם הטכנולוגיה האלקטרונית של שנות ה-80. מ-Brussels ל-Chelmsford ל-Vancouver — ז'אנר שנולד גלובלי.

Industrial — ממפעלים למועדונים

Throbbing Gristle (1975) המציאו Industrial Music — צלילים שנלקחו מסביבות תעשייתיות, ממכונות, מרעש. Cabaret Voltaire, SPK, Einstürzende Neubauten המשיכו. Ministry ו-Skinny Puppy לקחו את זה לכיוון Metal + Sampling + עלבון לחושים. המוזיקה הפכה לנשק.

Gothic Rock — הצל של Punk
